The repair is complete and the TV works great. The instructions were very clear and even though I had never soldered anything before, the process was much easier than I thought. Thank you for your rapid kit delivery and lightening fast responses to my questions. Rod

I want to take a moment and thank you guys! I recently acquired a 46" Sony HDTV for $65 which it was in need of some work, I am very happy to say that between the repair kit I ordered from you as well as the nicely detailed instructions, I was able to get my TV fixed in under 3hours! This is the first time I ever stuck my head inside a TV to fix it and you guys were a lifesaver!!!

I recently ordered an 8-pin Optical IC chip from your company based on advice I found on your site. The directions and references to online help were amazing and the repair went very smoothly and successfully. The most important part was following the advice to purchase a $1.00 circuit board and $1.29 IC chip from Radio Shack and practice soldering before attempting the repair. I will say that additional advice to keep the solder size small in cases where individuals have no experience in soldered would be helpful. Also, don’t expect or believe any technical support provided from salespeople in Radio Shack stores as the days of hiring competent and knowledgeable sales people are long gone. I used 30 year old flux paste which as it turned out made a huge difference in successfully soldering the replacement part. I approached this process and this site with a healthy dose of skepticism as anyone should in life and most especially when using the internet. Everything that was presented was accurate, concise, intelligently explained, easy to access and given the results, very affordable. I am very grateful I was able to find this site and would recommend it to anyone who is self motivated, cost conscious and can read.

I just want to say THANKS!
I have a Hitachi with the dreaded convergence issue, well this is actually the second time with this. The first time this happened I paid a tech to diagnose it, ($50.00) he told me what was wrong and quoted $400.00 + to fix it.
I bought the I.C.'s and resistors separately from other sources. BIG MISTAKE. It lasted about a year.
This time I bought the kit from TvRepairkits. It only took about an hour and a half to change the components and get it running again, the instructions were very well done.
The set came on, I did the Magic Focus and for the first time in a year the focus self adjusted perfectly. This time the money I spent was well spent.
Thank you so much.
I expect the problem to occur again in the future as it seems to be an inherent problem with these sets, but at least now I know what to do and were I'll be getting the parts. Great job guy's.

You guys are the BEST! Parts arrived today and I followed your instructions. There was one 3.5 pico fuse that was blown on the D board. The instructions are very handy and easy to follow. I wish that I had seen your site before spending money on a different site that didn't include full instructions, parts and expert advise. I'm a very satisfied customer!
Merry Christmas! James Puhach

Hello Tv Repair Kits, My name is Heather. I was recently given a handme down- Philips Magnavox 50" Rear Projection TV. It was in good shape but the picture was really pink and had halos. My roommate Kyla did research online to see what was causing the problem because we really wanted to replace our old RCA floor tv from the 80's which was another handme down. She found TvRepairKits.com and did some troubleshooting to determine it was the CRT coolant that needed to be changed. I called the local TV service company and they estimated it would be 400 to fix it. Obviously I didn't want to spend that kind of money and took a leap of faith with this repair kit...it was $80. Kind of a lot of money to throw away if it didn't work. I was confident in my mechanical skills that my dad had embedded in me since I was a kid (he can fix anything). I spent a Saturday going through the steps not knowing if I was going to be successful. Then we powered it on and adjusted the convergence and Bam...the TV is fixed. I can't believe I did it myself. I just graduated college with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design so I had no prior knowledge of "fixing" TV's. The instructions you provided were awesome, the repair went smoothly and with the money I saved from the repair man I bought a new surround sound and entertainment center.Heck Yes, I don't know anyone who can fix a big screen but now I know how.
Girls can do anything, and you helped.
Thanks Again. Heather, Kansas

The shipping was very fast. two days to receive the parts. i went thru the instructions which were extreamly easy to follow. I purchased the recommended stuff from radio shack, went home and practiced. Dissambled the TV, followed the instructions. everything went perfect.I can not believe it went so smooth. Great product, great instructions. Thanks so much. I saved over 400.00, or more. Now do you supply trouble shooting for electric ovens? that's next on the list. thanks again. Joe Patella

Hello, I have successfully replaced both convergence chips and one 2.2 ohm resistor for a JVC IART 56" TV. Not only has the convergence been restored, but the picture is also clear and bright again. This repair has save me from potentially having to spend 100's of dollars on a costly repair or a new TV. Thanks Stephen
Hello again, just wanted to let you know it is all working now. After rereading your email you sent I went back and really looked at the resistors and there was one that did not look like the rest that must have been replaced on the last fix. I changed that one out and it came up perfectly. Thank you so much for all your help and your great website. You just saved me over 300 bucks on having someone come out. If you ever need a testimonial just let me know. Thanks again! Jason

I completed the repair of my tv last night using the kit I had ordered for the convergence problem. Turned the set on and would you believe every thing worked as advertised. Thanks a lot for your advise and assistance. Believe I saved a bunch of money as a "DIY" project. Thanks again and hope we will be doing business again.

I ordered you TV-KIT-2014 last week b/c my tv started to show convergence issues. I got the kit, bought the proper tools (I had some experience with soldering), and dove in. Everything in my tv was as you described it and the replacement convergence chips fixed my problem! I checked all of the pico fuses and resistors and they all passed with flying colors.
All told, I spent about $100. I'm sure a repair shop would have been MUCH more than that and a new tv would have been quite pricey too. Thank you for giving me the tools to help me do it myself and save the money.
Everything from start to finish with your team has been wonderful. Thank you so very much.

2009-11-16 Thanks so much for your quick response. I replaced the burned out unit with one of the resistors that came with the convergence chips and, much to my surprise, I've got my TV back! Picture as good as ever, though not quite as good as the new LCD and plasma sets I was checking out the other day at Best Buy when I wasn't so sure I'd ever see my set working again (a failure to perform after replacing the subject resistor was probably going to be the end of this little project!). But thanks again, your web site was as straight forward and easy to use as any I've ever used, your directions were easy to understand ( I even went to Radio Shack and got "practice parts" as you suggested because I haven't soldered anything since I was a kid!). Regards, Joe

Thank you so much for the prompt delivery and very caring service your company provided me. The instructions, IC Convergence Chips, and resistors you provided in your repair kit; not to mention my Wife's fine soldering skills, solved the convergence problem with my Panasonic rear projection TV. Thank you Ed, for the great service you provided.
Your little kit arrived on time as advertised. Along with the online instructions everything worked perfectly. The simple, "baffle-gab" free instructions were easy to follow and an older TV has lived to entertain us again, not to mention an estimated $400.00 saving in parts and labour. Please feel free to quote your Canadian customer success in your promo stuff.

My husband and I were skeptical about doing this ourselves but we were so amazed that when we turned the tv on after the repairs, IT WORKED!!!!!! The steps looked harder than it actually was and the best part is that the tv works like new. We had to fix the convergence and we were so scared that maybe we didnt do it right and the tv wouldn't turn on. Well my husband is on cloud nine because he thinks he can fix anything now! Thank you for this website and your wonderful step by step instructions!!! Clarissa
I just completed my first repair EVER on a television using the magnavox Tv Convergence Repair Kit. I wanted thank you for what will be a $300 saving. The estimate I was givin for this repair was $400. The kit plus purchasing all the nessisary tools only cost me $100 and my picture looks brand new. I sent a picture (which does it not justice) but you can see no 3D or bent picture that I had before. The online pictures plus the directions where very accurate and easy to follow. I would make only one suggestion. You may want to offer a "bundle" with the repair kit for those of us who don't have a soldering tool but outside of that I give your product and support an A+.
Thanks again, Morris Shapiro

Thank you the repair was a success I am now watching clear HD...I will provide a great review. I love this site and what you are doing for the people. This site should be on CNN...
Thanks for your insight. I concentrated on the G board. After examining the 2 pico chips - i noticed i forgot to solder one end back to the board...did that - nothing...replaced it with one of the picos that came with the package...walllah! IT WORKS! After some fine tuning....i'm good to.
Thank you for all your help! Felt liberating...fixing a tv with absolutely no experience...!

Thanks for offering a great product and service. I had no previous experience doing these type of repairs and your intro to soldering pages were very helpful. My one question during repair was promptly answered . The actual repair instructions were very good and I got my 2002 Mitsubishi WS-48511 apart and back together with no issues. The new convergence chip, and included heat sink grease, did the trick (no more bow at the bottom of the screen). I appreciate the included pico fuses and resistors even though they were not required for my repair.
As this set ages I'll look here first to fix instead of replace it.
Matt
I have never repaired any electrical devices. I didn't even own a soldering iron. I (and the rest of my family) are astonished that I was able to fix my television using one of your repair kits. Thank you for your wonderful website and directions!

Well, I finally worked up the nerve to tackle the tv repair today. I took your tutoral on practice soldering until I was reasonably good at soldering/desoldering. I then went into the tv. I carefully removed and recorded all the locations of the plugs I was removing. I got the board out and removed and replaced the convergence IC's. I checked my solder connections (came out very well after your soldering tutoral) and put the plugs back. Double checked everything, plugged the tv in, and voila! - it came back on and looked pretty good! I adjusted the convergence as per the owners manual, and the tv look as good as new! I was not sure that I could do this job, but your instructions and photos were spot-on!
The whole process took about two hours, and was well worth the effort. Shame that there are probably millions of these tv's going into landfills over this relatively minor fix. You and your company are truly providing a great service to the people that find you. Hopefully, many others will see your website before they give up on their tv's.
Thanks again for your help and advice. Your diagnosis and repair instructions are perfect - don't change a thing! And keep reminding people that this job is not beyond the ability of the average tinkerer - I thought it was rather easy, now that it's done! Keep up the good work!

Just got done 10 min ago.Panasonic convergence now works. Gotta go Detroit Tigers are on in 20 minutes in HI DEF cool thanks alot. My wife was impressed,Lucky me...... She thinks I'm a genius. Later AL
My RPTV (Sony KP46WT510) recently lost convergence, and I had no idea where to go. Fortunately, I found this site, and started asking a lot of questions. Aside from a kit with genuine factory parts, I was also offered a tutorial, with very clear photos and instructions, making the process a much less daunting task. Add Ed's personal touch during a crisis moment, and I have nothing but good things to say!!
Less than $80 and a few hours of my time later, my TV is running as good as new. THANKS!!! Two thumbs WAY up!!

I just wanted to send you a thank you for the Magnavox TV Repair kit I purchased from you. My projection TV had sat dormant for a year while I tried to find the discontinued PCB for it.
I did a search on the internet and the symptoms my TV had matched what your repair claimed it would fix. I took a gamble (I admit I was skeptical at first) and ordered the repair kit. I read the directions a few times and started practicing my soldering and de-soldering. I had tried soldering other things in the past but I was never very good at it. After practicing my soldering and de-soldering for a while I built up the confidence to try it on the TV's PCB per the repair kit instructions.
The hardest part of the whole repair was finding all the PCB fasteners and getting my hand in there to take them out. I'm always a little nervous working around capacitors. I was able to get all the fasteners out and tip the PCB board up so that I could de-solder the bad chip off from underneath. For putting the new chip and holder in I was a little worried about my ability to solder upside down but I was able to do it without any problems and the soldering looks perfect. I reinstalled everything, plugged the TV in, and started it up. It worked perfectly!
Thanks again for making this repair kit,
Jason
I got your chip, I am by no means any kind of technician, motorhead, I can barely put a new handle for my toilet. But I took the tv apart, your directions had everything perfectly drawn out, and I exchanged that chip. I put everything back together ( was impressed I did that) put the tv back in place, turned it on, and "VIOLA" on it came looked like a new tv. Mind you I spent $350.00 for a technician to do the exact same thing to my other tv 2 weeks prior. I spent $40.00 instead of the $450.00 the technician told me he would charge me to fix that tv. I said to myself I would rather lose $40.00 instead of $450.00 and I'm so glad I found your web site. I tell ya if you are ever in the neighbor hood I would cook you a steak and drink a beer with ya. Thanks a whole lot. Customer for life, Milan milosevic
The chip worked perfect on my tv I just wanted to thank you and I will put the word out if any one has the same prob. John
